The Honourable Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu , has commended the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) , Prof. ‘Dibu Ojerinde on his achievements in the education industry.
The Minister made this declaration during the JAMB-UNEB Conference on Item Banking held at the boardroom of the Board’s National Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja. The Minister, who was represented by the Director Tertiary Education, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Hindatu Abdullahi, pledged the Ministry’s support to the Board and described Prof. Ojerinde as a round peg in a round hole, who has strengthened the Board to become one of the most respected parastatals under the Ministry. In a remark, the Registrar JAMB, Prof. ‘Dibu Ojerinde encouraged all the participants to see the workshop as a starting ground irrespective of whatever experience they might earlier have about item banking.
Speaking on a paper presentation on the emergence of JAMB, Director Test Administration, Dr. Yusuf Lawal described the yearning that gave rise to the birth of the Board, describing the need to create a synergy in the education system along with the proactive measures the Board has taken over the years to eliminate malpractice.
Participants at the conference ranged from representatives of the Ugandan National Examination Board (UNEB), National Examination Council (NECO), NABTEB, as well as management representatives of JAMB , all of whom were given a tour of the Board’s CBT centre to examine the facilities at the centre and have a hands on feel on how a standard Computer Based Test (CBT) was conducted.
